Back from London since sunday. What an awesome experience that was. My feet still burning and my throat still croaky (thanks to the brilliant weather on the island). It was amazing to meet some of those people I virtually know for more then six months. We had exhilarating long conversations, lots of food, lots of guinness, lots of fun and – the studio tours.
Passion Pictures, Smoke & Mirrors, Moving Picture Company, Double Negative, Rushes, Uli Meyer, Studio AKA. Because of the size of our group not everyone could visit every studio. I was on the list for S&M, MPC, DNeg and Uli Meyer. Visiting those studios really pushed my eager to work in London after I graduate.
One of my personal highlights was the visit to Double Negative and the “very very special tour through the production floors”. Although that was amazing, the real super exciting thing happened after that. The door opened and Eamonn Butler entered the room. After he (Animation Supervisor at Disney, now DNeg) told us that Animationmentor is the way to go if we want to make a career in animation, we got an one hour private lesson where he showed us the work we had to do if we would start at DNeg today.
To summarize – a really successful meeting and lots of new friends and contacts.
